BJ The Chicago Kid - His Pain ft. Kendrick Lamar

I don’t know why He keeps blessing me…

All President Obama needs is our support.

Our real support.

I think President Obama is a good man. And that goes far with me, because too many of these politicians at every level of American government have been able to convince themselves that they are good people working for the good of the people. When really they’re not.

I really hope there isn’t some scandal looming in the shadows, but the President seems to have been as calm, collected and transparent as possible for a man in his position. Fuck the rhetoric and the muckraking, he’s doing his best to serve the needs of an entire nation.

Plus, he’s the coolest nigga on the face of this planet.

He’s got my support.

He did the right thing. But it was a brave thing because he had to take on the muscle of the oil industry, including the American Petroleum Institute, which is their association, their lobbying group. The members of Congress who had expedited this — trying to railroad it through under an arbitrary deadline — received $42 million from the oil industry, the fossil fuel industry, and they were riding it through.

It was because Obama had people power behind him, that he could do the right thing. You know, Bill McKibben, the great naturalist writer and his organization called 350.org, and the National Resources Defense Council brought thousands of people to Washington to show the President that he could do the right thing and they would have his back. Franklin Roosevelt said to the union guys, you know, ‘Make me do the right thing. Go out and build popular support so I can do the right thing.’ Lyndon Johnson put his arm around Martin Luther King and said ‘Dr. King, go out there and make it possible for me to do the right thing.’

…The issue in the (Keystone XL) Pipeline — there were lots of technical issues — but the real issue was the integrity of the political process. There was collusion between high government officials and the (oil) industry to get this through before the public had a chance to be heard. They stopped it, and they also gave the President the ammunition to fight the right battles. He could not have done it without people power. That’s one reason why Occupy Wall Street is so important right now: to build the support for change.

PBS Journalist BILL MOYERS, on why President Obama’s administration was able to reject the Keystone XL Pipeline, on Real Time With Bill Maher.

Support our President, and things will get done.

And BTW?  We’re still the 99 Percent.

President Obama sings a line from Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.”

So I already wanted a pair of Bordeaux Spiz’ikes. and now Spike Lee has given President Barack Obama a “Presidential Pack.”

So now I NEED a pair.

The Internet Strike Of January 18, 2012 (Editorial) ›

I wrote a piece about SOPA and what it could mean for the Internet. It’s not as comprehensive as other articles, but I think I addressed some real issues surrounding this bill. People were upset over the idea that porn would be stripped from the internet, but I’m not too sure the U.S. wants to fuck with a billion dollar industry.

Music websites though… independent artists and retailers though… our blogs though… We need to be active in attacking SOPA and PIPA.

Going offline Wednesday, January 18, in support of the strike against SOPA. ›

SOPA. Stop Online Piracy Act.

Also, there’s the corresponding Senate, Protect IP. Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act.

I’m pretty sure I can separate myself from the internet for one day. Especially if it is in protest of a bill that threatens my experience on the internet.

I understand the premise of the bill: to prevent internet pirates from exploiting the creative work of others. I just can’t help but think it really protects the corporate interests that wish to monopolize their assets while further curtailing the artists that actually create that work.

Fuck them.
