So we’re going to pretend that CNN didn’t intentionally cut the feed to the soldier’s feed AS SOON AS he begin to chastise the United States for its military obsession?
OKAY.

…Right there, in the fine print of (Standard & Poor’s U.S. credit rating) downgrade release, they said that a big factor was that, quote, “the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues,” unquote. And they give an example of how to fix that: quote, “initiatives, such as the lapsing of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for high earners,” unquote. In other words, S&P would like to see higher taxes on rich people.
Folks, whatever you think of Standard & Poor’s, when a Wall Street firm run by rich people recommend higher taxes on rich people, they might just know what they’re talking about.

For those of you who don’t know, the guy throwing the shoe is an Iraqi journalist by the name of Muntadar al-Zaidi. It was said that before Muntadar threw the shoe that he yelled “This is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, you dog.” In the Arab culture raising your shoe is a sign of disrespect. Kinda like how when the Saddam Hussein statue was torn down you saw footage and pictures of women and men hitting it with their shoes! Lol 2008 was a funny/entertaining year in politics.
Al-Zaidi was definitely sentenced to three years in prison in March 2009. He was released on September 2009 after 9 months behind bars. He claimed that he had been systematically tortured during his time in jail and one of his front teeth was now missing. He also said that he had been beaten with electric cables and iron bars and immersed in cold water.
I think he still stands by his decision to throw his shoes at the President of the United States, but no one is going to get away with throwing their shoes at the President of the United States.

As awful and bigoted some of the rhetoric Tea Party members espouse can be, the United States is far more liberal in many ways than the majority of the world. I myself could be considered a progressive, fiscal liberal or social conservative, libertarian or member of the Christian Left at any moment.
I look at the world more as Haves vs. Have-Nots. Unfortunately majority of Have-Nots, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc. are consistently manipulated by Haves.
Where is the money really going? Why are my taxes so damn high? Why is our national debt growing and who’s profiting because of it?
I want to see disenfranchised groups empowered. I want us all to get along and respect individual lifestyles and ideals.
But I want to get paid too.
Jon Stewart, on the GOP’s curious targets for budget cuts: “Our only way out of this mess is to cut programs that affect people who vote for Democrats.”
